Abstract

Ship stability is a fundamental aspect of maritime education related to ship safety and operational seaworthiness. Understanding ship stability concepts such as draft, trim, and list requires a strong connection between theoretical knowledge and practical observation. This study aims to design and develop a ship stability practical model based on a floating physical model integrated with a load-shifting system and a simulation application. The research method consists of analytical and experimental approaches. The analytical method includes the study of ship stability theory, acquisition of hull hydrostatic data through three-dimensional scanning and software analysis, and the design of the practical model and simulation application. The experimental method involves the construction of the ship model and testing through several practical scenarios. The results show that the developed practical model is able to represent changes in ship attitude due to variations in load distribution, while the simulation application can be used as a supporting tool for evaluating practical exercises. This model is expected to support learning activities in ship stability practical training.
